Jan Baiboon is one of the faces featured in Simone Rocha x H&M’s latest collaboration. The Thai model, who considers Spring/Summer 2020 as her first major fashion week, was named by Vogue as one of the seven break out models in 2019. With her versatility in both editorial and runway, Baiboon has graced a myriad of walks and campaigns – with Simone Rocha x H&M being the latest.
In the released lookbook, Baiboon is seen in Rocha’s reworked pieces; from the tartan trousers to tulle dresses in pink and black with floral touches and sparkling embellishments. Alongside a diverse cast of models including Jess Maybury, Tess McMillan and Aramish Mangi, Baiboon is photographed in a romantic, nostalgic mood by Ben Toms with styling by Robbie Spencer. The shoot was held in London.
To be launched in early March, the collaboration is a ten-year reminiscence of Rocha’s trademarks. It features textures, shapes and silhouettes innate to the designer’s sensibilities and signatures while paying homage to her roots in Ireland and Hong Kong. It is also a tribute to family, intimacy and joy.
Hints of Rocha’s signature touches are interspersed throughout the pieces with an emphasis on floral and tartan prints, frills and cut-outs and full puff sleeves. Colours are pinks, classic black and white, and check. However, the whimsical collection does not only stop at womenswear. Within her debut menswear, Rocha maintains a strong sense of silhouette and homage to some of her best work throughout the decade with reworked trench, summer parka, Aran knits and cardigans.
“Simone has such a unique and special aesthetic. Season on season, she defines her identity. This feels like the perfect collection for this moment; a dynamic proposition from a female designer with such a clear sense of who she is, and what she wants to say. It is a joyful collection, that will hopefully enliven spirits and inspire.” declares Ann-Sofie Johansson of H&M.
Rocha shares, “I hope that the items in this collection will be worn and treasured for years to come. They were all informed by ideas and inspirations that have shaped me and my brand over the last 10 years, and I am so excited to see them worn out-and-about and interpreted and styled in new ways.”
